FROM THE GOVERNOR
============================================================

Fellow Brothers and Co-Workers:

We are finally into spring after a very long and bitter winter. If you have yet to hear, you, as members, are now the proud owners of the land located at Hazelwood St. and County Road D in Maplewood. This area will soon be our new Lodge Home.

At this time we have hired an architect who will draw up the plans for the new Lodge so we can submit them for construction bidding. Before we atually start the new building, we will be having a formal General Membership meeting to approve the actual loan. This is required by our By-laws so be on notice for this special meeting. From this point forward events should start to move quickly.
Election of Lodge officers will be on Tuesday, April 2 from 6 PM to 7 PM. This is always an important meeting. Remember to bring your current Lodge membership card and do vote.

The Installation for new Officers will be on Sunday, April 28, starting at 1 PM with the Chapter installation. A dinner will then follow the Lodge Officers’ installation. I hope to see many of you there!

Thank you to our 2018-2019 Board of Officers! They were excellent representatives! Also, my gratitude to both the office staff for their very professional services, and to all of our volunteers during this past year.

With the new building about to come to fruition, the future should be a lot of fun for all of us!
Thank you very much for your support of the Lodge and of me!!

Fraternally yours,
John Rheinberger, Governor

CHAPTER CHATS
============================================================
Well, this is my last Messenger as your Senior Regent. It sure has been an interesting year. I would like to thank all those who have helped me out this year and look forward to serving as your Jr. Graduate Regent in the upcoming year. As always I am always available for any questions or concerns – you gals can’t get rid of me that easy…lol. My E-mail is lcardwell99@gmail.com or you can reach me by phone at 612-388-0790.

Okay enough of the mushy stuff. We have a few things still happening before we take our little hiatus. April 12th is Chapter Fish Fry; $10.00 for all you-can-eat cod served with French fries, coleslaw and dessert. We will be having the big Garage Sale on April 27th. Come pick up some great stuff at great prices. The last Sunday breakfast for this year will be on Sunday, April 28th. Come join us for the best breakfast in town for $9.00. We plan on having a couple of craft shows once the new building opens; the one we had last fall was a great success.

As far as the Tuesday night Chapter meetings -- once the building closes in May, they will be held at Sidewinders, 2573 7th Ave. E., No. St. Paul. Meetings starting in June will be at Sidewinders the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month all at 6:30 PM. Come join us for updates of the new building and any new Chapter information. Bring us your ideas for fundraising and/or anything else you want to share. We look forward to having more members join us for our monthly meetings.

We also have a Facebook page that we started for “WOTM Maplewood Chapter 563” so please join and keep up on all the activities and news we are sharing.
Thanks for a great year.

LeAnn (Lulu) Cardwell, Senior Regent

============================================================
FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR
============================================================

The Lodge is closing May 15, 2019. We own the new property on Hazelwood Ave. We need to close and get the money from the City of Maplewood for our construction loan. We have hired an architect and zoning/surveying team. My hope is we are in the new building no later than October. This depends on the City of Maplewood and how quickly they approve our plans.

The size of the new Lodge will accommodate any event we currently have here, including bocce ball and darts. Horseshoes won’t happen til the following spring. There will still be gambling. Hoping to have the kitchen open daily for lunch.
The new Lodge will have a card reader to get in. It uses the hard membership card you get from Moose Intl. If your dues are in arrears, the door will not open.

I realize this is a lot of information to absorb.

There is a Garage Sale here on April 27 starting at 10 AM and ending when everything is sold. If you have anything here I suggest you take it now or it will be put in the sale or thrown out.

Saturday, May 11, is the Farewell Party in the Social Quarters. The festivities start at 11 AM. All beer is $1.00. All liquor is $2.00. Any food left from the kitchen will be cooked and served in the Social Quarters, free with any beverage purchase. Everything needs to go. We won’t be storing anything.

The Lodge phone number will be transferred to my house, along with the mail being forwarded. Beverly Jahn will still be working from my house.
It takes $533.00 per day to open the doors. We are averaging $70.00 per day. The summer months are the worst months for revenue here. It is a good time to close. The savings account is dwindling-can’t take money out of savings to pay monthly bills.

If you have any questions, ask me. Every day I hear things about the Lodge that are so wrong – The Moose Lodge “rumor mill”!

Everybody have a great summer. There will be mini Messengers sent out in the interim to keep everyone updated.

Thank you!

Gary Lenart, Administrator

FROM THE GOVERNOR
============================================================

Fellow Brothers and Co-Workers:

Things are certainly happening at the Lodge!
On October 18th, Moose International approved the sale of our building. We are now moving forward with the purchase of the new property on Hazelwood St. and County Rd. D, along with the pursuit of a “new construction” loan. Our current hope is that construction of the new building will start in March or April.
I would like to give a hearty thank you to Kris Tschida and Ethel Olson for hosting a supreme Halloween party on October 27. Thank you ladies!! If you were not there, join us next year!
We will soon be looking for 2019-2020 Officers. Please let us know of your or others’ interest. It is a good way to learn more about the Moose, meet people and make a lasting contribution for its benefit. Please consider helping the Lodge in this important way!
Because we have many things going on at the Lodge, some of these may fail to make the Messenger. Periodically check in (visit or call) to see what is happening. The Lodge does send out a periodic E-mail (Thanks, Tim Slabik!) about upcoming events; if you are interested in subscribing, please let us know.
Happy Holidays and a very prosperous 2019 New Year!
Thank you for being a member of the Moose!!

Fraternally yours,
John Rheinberger, Governor

Happy Holidays Everyone:

I know we are all busy this time of year, so I will keep this short and sweet (like me …lol). We have a lot of exciting things coming up – make sure you check out the articles in here regarding the Fashion Show, Personal Care items donations, birthday dinners, etc. There is always something going on for you to get involved in.

Don’t forget to buy your Coupon Cards—this is a fundraiser for the Lodge and Chapter. Cost is $20.00 and $10.00 goes directly back to us. It has many coupon deals on it, and they make perfect stocking stuffers. Please see me and I will get one to you. Remember, without fundraisers we can’t keep the Lodge going. Every little bit helps!

Last but not least, I would like to welcome our new “Godmother” Michelle Epperson. Congrats, Michelle, I know you will do us proud.

Anything else you need or want please do not hesitate to ask – I am always open for suggestions.

LeAnn (Lulu) Cardwell, Senior Regent

LET’S HELP OUR MORE UNFORTUNATE NEIGHBORS!
============================================================
Maplewood Chapter is sponsoring a drive to collect personal care items for adults and children during November and December as a Community Service project.

Cash donations are also accepted.

You can give them to any Chapter Officer or drop them off in the Lodge office.
We will donate these items to shelter facilities in our area.

Thanks for anything you can donate!

============================================================
FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR
============================================================

On Nov. 30, 2018 we are closing on the new property. Moose International has signed off on the sale of our current property and the purchase of the new lot. They told me they are behind us on this new Lodge and sincerely want it to work for us.

The Phase 1 soil sampling is in the process. We also need a geotechnical evaluation to make sure the soil can handle the weight of the new building. The Phase 2 takes soil samples and sends them to a lab to see if there is any contamination. We are currently in the process of interviewing architects. Once again, this will be a spring build.

I have been inundated with questions about horseshoes, bocce ball, RV parking, etc. Those are all on my mind, but there are a lot of things to deal with first. Can’t put the cart before the horse.

If things go semi-smoothly, we are hoping to be in the Lodge for next year’s NFL games.

Skoal! The Social Quarters is open Christmas Eve; noon to 4:00 PM. The Lodge is closed Christmas Day. Social Quarters open New Year’s Eve, and open New Year’s Day from noon to 8:00 PM.

Gary Lenart, Administrator

MEMBERSHIP REPORT
============================================================
As we enter the Holiday Season and a New Year, we also enter a new era for our Lodge. We must show we can grow and increase our membership. Each of us took an oath to help grow our membership. For reasons unknown to many, only a very few actually sponsor new or former members.

Growth is critical as we move in to our new building. Since you enjoy being a member, you would want your friends and family to join you. How about a Lodge membership as a Christmas gift?

A little reminder – pay your dues on time. The renewal notice arrives 40 to 50 days in advance.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all and best wishes for the New Year to you and our Lodge. Our next meeting will be Dec. 30 at 10 AM. Watch for postcards.

We encourage all Moose Legionnaires to sponsor members into Lodge and Moose Legion along with the other volunteer projects you do. We were unable to nominate a Moose Legionnaire for consideration for the Fellowship Degree. One thing that holds us back is sponsorship. We need to change that.

WHY ARE YOU A MOOSE MEMBER?
============================================================
Next time someone ask you this, what are you going to say? Think about all of the good we do and the fun we have.

We support our children at Mooseheart and our seniors at Moosehaven.

Activities within the Lodge include blood drives, charitable gaming contributions to Babe Ruth East Metro Twins, fun events like Souper Saturday, Pig Roasts, Goodfellows Italian night, Viking tailgate parties, horseshoes, darts, cribbage, senior dances on Sundays, monthly breakfast, weekly meat raffles, chicken and corn feed, booya, just to name a few.

============================================================
FROM THE GOVERNOR
============================================================
Fellow Brothers and Co-Workers:
Things are rapidly moving at the Lodge. On July 29th the membership voted to sell our existing building to the City of Maplewood for $900,000.00 It later approved moving forward with the purchase of property at Hazelwood St. and County Road D with the intent of building of a new facility if possible. Under the current scenario we expect to move in April 2019, though that date could be delayed.

Gary Lenart and Mike Young are currently spearheading the opening phases of the move. Thank you members!

We had a wonderful Chicken and Corn Feed on August 18th led by Bill Krannich and crew. If you were not there you missed a good time. Thank you Bill and members for sharing your time, energy and talents with us!

The breakfast buffets have just started on Sept. 23rd. They are generally the fourth Sunday of the month and will go until May. The breakfasts are the best bargains around!
We will be having a Halloween Party this year. It will be on Saturday, October 27th. This event could be the last big party at the “old Lodge” so that should be fun. Kris Tschida and Ethel Olson are making it happen. Thank you!

Just a quick reminder – we do have birthday dinners every month, usually the first Friday. Your birthday does not have to be that month to enjoy a very good meal. Please call the Lodge at least four days in advance to get on the

In closing: “Lots going on!”

FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR

First off I want to thank Jan Houck, Annette Kane and Heather Nelson for volunteering their time to bartend. It is greatly appreciated.

There will be two hard rock bands coming here in October. Oct. 6 Psycho Prowler returns. For the first time the Wayward Boyz Klub are playing here on Oct. 20th. The Lodge will also be open to the public from 7 – 11 PM. Moose International was gracious enough to offer a dispensation for all Lodges on this date.

The Board has agreed on a plan for the new Lodge. As of now we are talking with Morton Builders. They have an incredible product, the lowest price per square foot, and the City of Maplewood has allowed this type of building in Maplewood. This will be a spring build. The total cost for everything (land, building, utility hook ups, grading, parking lot and …) is incredibly expensive. The Board will have to figure out how to make this work.

The Social Quarters is offering double up for a buck for Viking games – one hour before and during the game. This is limited to 12 oz. tap beer, pop, canned and bottled beer, wine and rail drinks.

The construction is done across the street, so there will no longer be construction workers’ vehicles in our parking lot.

Thank you,

Gary Lenart
